Urban Sites

Urban Educators Institute

In order for our Teacher Consultants to build a community within our project and a network of professionals with whom they can rely, we offer as part of our Continuity Programs an Urban Educators Institute. As educators within the urban setting of the Charlotte-Mecklenburg school system, this institute brings Teacher Consultants together to share their practices in teaching in urban sites. They read, study, and discuss issues of literacy that are found within urban school settings. The group meets in the summer and plans an inquiry project that takes place throughout the year.  Past projects include work on home languages, funds of knowledge, third space, and learning narratives.  For more information Contact Us!
